A Multi-million pound link-up between North East Lincolnshire
Council and Capita, which would have created 100 jobs, has been
scrapped.
Councillors agreed, behind closed doors at a cabinet meeting, on
Monday, to cease negotiations after the two parties failed to reach
a mutually acceptable commercial position.
An "alternative plan" is already being worked on, but council
bosses said they were unable to reveal any more details.
Union leaders today welcomed the news.
The leader of the council, Coun Andrew De Freitas, said the
Capita deal was not right for council tax payers.
"We had said the contract had to be delivered without adding a
penny to council tax.
