Suggested tips - Here's how much Americans said they tipped on
average during the holidays last year in cash or the value of a non-
cash gift:
Barber - $5 to $20
Child-care provider (nanny, au pair, daytime sitter) - $20 to $50
Child's teacher - $10 to $25
Fitness trainer/instructor - $10 to $50
Hairdresser or stylist - $10 to $25
Letter carrier - $10 to $20
Manicurist/pedicurist - $10 to $25
Newspaper carrier - $10 to $20
Sanitation/recycling collector - $10 to $25
Personal preference or experience act as guides for giving a tip
to service workers on the holidays.
