You crossed off the easy people on your holiday gift list long ago. The clock is ticking and your wallet is getting light. Here are a few ideas for those super-hard-to-buy-for folks who always test your holiday spirit.

TEACHERS: Your child's teacher would not need to work if he had a nickel for every time a student gave him a mug or apple-themed paperweight. The fact that the mugs and weights are wrapped nicely and say "World's Best Teacher" does little to make up for the fact that the gifts are - how do you say? - totally lame.

This year, take a risk. Really go out on a limb. Write a sincere thank-you letter or have your child make a gift. Mugs come and go, but teachers save homemade gifts ...
