Pet owners grieving the death of a four-footed friend will have a
new place to keep the human/fuzzy-face bond alive when the Wisconsin
Humane Society opens Lorraine's Garden, a final resting place for
animal companions.
The 5,600-square-foot combination garden, chapel and columbarium
on the society grounds at 4500 W. Wisconsin Ave., which formally
opens Sunday, is distinctive in both size and concept, said Jim
Drzewiecki, the landscape designer who spent a year creating it.
"There's nothing out there across the country on this scale or the
quality of the design."
The columbarium, a wall with niches for urns, offers an option
for pet guardians loath to leave beloved pets buried in a backyard ...
