Article: Teens break taboos against public displays of grief

As Anthony Marie lay in a coma, Marina Panaia was trying to figure out how to honor her friend's life.

"I knew that so many people cared about him," Panaia, 15, said of her former Penn-Trafford High School classmate who died Nov. 21 after being hit by a car. "I just wanted a place for everyone to go, say how much they miss him and share their feelings about it."

Panaia set up a memorial page for Marie on the social networking site Facebook.com. Kaitlyn Maghery, 15, is helping create memorial T- shirts emblazoned with Marie's name and a cross. Another friend and a relative are considering tattoos, Panaia said.
