Selinsgrove nipped at Thomas Jefferson's heels midway through the
fourth quarter of their PIAA Class AAA quarterfinal game Saturday,
but the Seals couldn't catch running back Orlando Torres and the
Jaguars.
Torres's 217 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 34 carries,
aided by Thomas Jefferson's stellar special teams play, helped the
Jaguars to a 24-10 victory at Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona.
Thomas Jefferson (14-0) defeated Selinsgrove (11-3) in the
quarterfinals for the third time in four years. The Jaguars will
face Erie Strong Vincent (11-2), the District 10 champion, in the
semifinals on Friday or Saturday at a site and time to be
determined.
