Exhaling, she yanks down. The Hingham Memorial Bell Tower erupts with the sound of a clanging bell.

For the next few minutes, Ryan is transfixed. Her arms rise with the rope as the force of the swinging bell lifts it toward the ceiling. Her hands move methodically to control the rope as it wriggles back toward the floor.
