BALANCING ACTS
I am writing this column in the library, but not because I'm
trying to be bookish. Rather, I'm carving out a little "white space"
- a thinking and creating zone that's unsullied by three pings and a
beep every other minute.
White space is a hot topic in knowledge- and creativity-driven
business circles. I hardly need to explain why: These days, no
screen is left untended, and rarely is a moment unspliced. Nearly
one-third of workers feel they often do not have time to reflect on
or process the work they do, according to the Families and Work
