When twenty-something artists David Bethell and Andrew Branscombe
opened the AirSpace gallery in Hanley 18 months ago, they fulfilled
a dream.
The gallery, which has since moved from the old Falcon Works to
its new home in Broad Street, needed a huge amount of hard work to
get off the ground, not to mention financial backing and support
from a whole number of organisations.
Knowing that Arts Council England's funding would at some point
run out, the pair knew they had to come up with a new way of raising
money to ensure exhibitions could be held there in future - and so
an exciting auction project called AirTrade was born.
A cry for help to the local and national arts community has
