Sporting stars can now be nominated for Teignbridge's Sports Personality of the Year.

The gala awards event pays homage to local athletes, teams, officials and teachers.

Cllr Anne Fry, Teignbridge spokeswoman for community services, said: "It takes a marvellous amount of hard work and dedication to reach the top of any sporting field, whether in a competitive or supporting role, and these awards give us the opportunity to recognise these fantastic achievements.

"If anybody has a friend, colleague or neighbour who they think makes a contribution to sport, I would urge them to get hold of a nomination ...
