A Second day of strikes hit Jobcentre Plus branches in the area
yesterday.
The number of workers walking out from Scunthorpe job centre was
thought to be around 50, according to the Department for Work and
Pensions' (DWP) estimates.
Strikers are protesting about a pay deal which will leave many
workers at Jobcentre Plus, Pensions Centres and Child Support
Agencies with a wage freeze over the next three years.
The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) which organised
the strike claimed success and said there was national disruption.
PCS Yorkshire and Humberside officer Keith Wiley said: "This is
one of the best-supported strikes in recent years.
"Quite clearly members are very angry ...
