Traffic accidents Thursday along Miami Valley roadways claimed
two lives and left several other people injured.
In Champaign County, Michael Burks, 36, of Springfield, was
killed in a single-car crash at 1:39 p.m., according to the Ohio
Highway Patrol post in Marysville. About 20 minutes earlier,
troopers responded to a crash on Ohio 4 that left one person dead
and two seriously injured. Troopers did not release any further
details.
Troopers did not rule out natural causes in the death of Burks,
who was northbound on Springfield-Urbana Road south of U.S. 68 when
his car went off the side of the road. A dispatcher said the car
struck a fence, hit a culvert and then a utility pole wire ...
