The Rose Bowl will stage its 94th edition on Jan. 1. Over that
time, the game has witnessed its share of memories. Here are some
interesting tidbits about
"The Granddaddy of Them All:"
THE FIRST ROSE BOWL: Michigan defeated Stanford 49-0 in the first
Rose Bowl game played on Jan. 1, 1902. That year the event was known
as the "Tournament East-West football game." Michigan fullback Neil
Snow, who rushed for five touchdowns, was named the game's most
valuable player.
A BREAK IN THE ACTION: Since that first game was one-sided,
Tournament of Roses officials staged events such as chariot races
