Three of Teignbridge's unwanted assets have raised pounds720,000
at auction - well above their guide price.
The sale was expected to raise pounds470,000, but the two
industrial sites and a mobile phone mast site raised an extra
pounds250,000.
In September, Teignbridge Council drew up a list of unwanted
assets in a bid to raise pounds2.5million.
The 28 properties include an historic Victorian orangery, Dawlish
Museum and the country's oldest ferry service at Shaldon.
Teignbridge Council leader Alan Connett said: "We are delighted.
It shows we were right to review our assets and to draw up a
disposal list."
He said the money would boost day to day revenue and reduce the
council's maintenance ...
