Children with an ecological conscience have sent letters of
appeal to major figures in a bid to save marine life from pollution.
Washingborough Primary School pupils have written heartfelt
letters to Prime Minister Gordon Brown, US President George Bush,
Lincoln MP Gillian Merron and TV's Blue Peter, among others.
And they included the Echo in their quest to raise awareness
about the effects of pollution on sea-life across the globe.
They were inspired by a project called On the High Seas in which
they made treasure maps and acted as pirates.
Deputy head Sandra Mitchell said: "As part of the project I read
out an article about sea pollution to the class and the children
