The Fitzes on Westover Avenue in Roanoke are well-known for their
elaborate annual Christmas display.
They may not know, however, that Pop's Ice Cream and Soda Bar on
nearby Memorial Avenue has created an ice cream sundae named for
them -- it's a brownie topped with peppermint ice cream and
"overdecorated," as owner Anna Robertson put it, with red and green
sprinkles and silver balls.
The "Fitz's Sundae" may never be the talk of Grandin Village,
though, because it's an ice cream sundae being sold in the dead of
winter.
And everyone knows ice cream just doesn't sell in the dead of
winter, right?
Well, that's really only half true.
I'm sure lots of ice cream shops in wintery places have long ...
