Pojoaque Group Plans Meeting

Some Pojoaque Valley residents, unhappy with the prospect of capping their private wells, are organizing a grassroots effort to oppose a proposed settlement in the long-running Aamodt water rights case.

The Pojoaque Basin Water Alliance will hold its first public meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Frank B. Lopez gym at Pojoaque Valley High School.

The group organizers say many nonpueblo property owners were left in the dark during settlement negotiations. The proposal that came out of those negotiations would require non-Indian residents to disconnect from their wells and hook into a new regional water system.
