The town is at the foot of Sugarloaf Mountain and was named for
William Barnes, who built the first house. Its approximately 200
residents are governed by three commissioners, one of whom serves as
president. The volunteer officers are elected to two-year terms.
Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. the third Monday of the month.
