from the Earth Santa Fe Clay's latest show celebrates the beauty of botany

Sarah Heimann incorporates botanical themes in her work because she loves the outdoors and plants. Don Kennell, who normally does large, public-commission work, created two high-relief profiles covered in floral decals specifically for this show. Treisch Voelker was inspired by Japanese textiles that included botanical designs.

The three artists are among 40 whose work is being shown in "Botanical," a national invitational show of ceramic pieces that opens today at Santa Fe Clay Gallery. The objective of the show, gallery assistant Rod Lambert said, is to show work from artists who incorporate reference to flora and botany in either their form or their surface decoration.
