BLOOMINGTON - Air conditioning turns 100 this month, and it's gone
to the dogs.
Literally.
What helps us keep our cool in our cars, homes and businesses has
even been installed locally in dog houses, according to Hugh Evans of
Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 99.
Granted, giving Fido a thermostat isn't common. But the example
illustrates something anyone who has lived through a Central Illinois
summer can relate to: Come July, air conditioning is everywhere, and
that can both prevent and present some sticky situations.
As Brenda Melcher puts it, "Some people hate air conditioning and
others can't live without it. It's a comfort zone thing, and
