BLOOMINGTON - Fifteen years ago, the tendinitis in Westley
Feaster's left forearm became so painful that he nearly abandoned his
passion: playing classical guitar.
He dropped to playing one hour a week, which for a musician is
almost like not playing at all. At the University of Michigan, he
sought a master's degree in music theory to open a path for a
teaching career.
In Michigan, he also found a pain-relief method called the
Alexander Technique. Musicians, dancers, actors and singers had used
it, and in January 1988, Feaster tried it.
Placing special emphasis on positioning of the neck and back, the
