BLOOMINGTON - Fifteen years ago, the tendinitis in Westley Feaster's left forearm became so painful that he nearly abandoned his passion: playing classical guitar.

He dropped to playing one hour a week, which for a musician is almost like not playing at all. At the University of Michigan, he sought a master's degree in music theory to open a path for a teaching career.

In Michigan, he also found a pain-relief method called the Alexander Technique. Musicians, dancers, actors and singers had used it, and in January 1988, Feaster tried it.
