Dr. Daughter performs knee surgery on Dr. Dad

BLOOMINGTON - For 20 years, the two orthopedic surgeons worked together on patients.

Dr. John Wright on one side of the operating table; Dr. Judy Wright, his daughter, on the other.

"I'm right-handed and she's left-handed," Dr. John explained. So, mechanically, it worked to do surgeries together.

But the success of their partnership at Family Orthopaedics in Bloomington wasn't just a result of body mechanics.

"We found out that we had a lot of personality similarities," explained Dr. Judy, who joined her father in 1980 when female orthopedic surgeons were a rarity. To their patients, they are known as "Dr. John" and "Dr. Judy."
