Article: $233,000 grant will assist Family Visitation Center

BLOOMINGTON - Officials from Bloomington's Children's Foundation say a $233,559 grant will help them protect more children and families.

U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson, R-Urbana, announced the grant Thursday. It goes to the foundation's Family Visitation Center, which provides a neutral site and monitoring for child visits in cases where parents harbor extreme animosity.

Johnson called the center a quality organization that promotes healthy families.

Teresa Kelly, Children's Foundation program manager for Intact Family Services, said the grant is a wise use of money. She called the program a "wonderful intervention" that helps families before their problems reach crisis stage.
