Article: Village mayor: Stop putering about Golf carts bring controversy

MANSFIELD - You might call it the great golf cart controversy in the town without a golf course.

Mayor Steve Gaines wants golf carts off village streets because it's the law and because he fears children using the golf carts might get hurt. Fellow trustee and police commissioner Dan Harper has similar concerns.

Not everyone agrees and that's par for the course in this town of 1,000, about seven miles from the nearest course in nearby Farmer City.

"We have had a problem with kids using them late at night without lights," said Gaines. "I'm afraid some kid will get hurt or hurt somebody else."
