Article: Major upgrade Cancer center gets new tumor-fighting precision equipment

NORMAL - The Community Cancer Center is improving its ability to attack tumors while minimizing damage to nearby healthy tissue and reducing side effects.

The cancer center is upgrading its tumor-zapping linear accelerator to make it more precise, Dr. Timothy Campbell and cancer center executive director Barb Nathan announced this week. The center hopes to begin using the upgraded technology by August.

Combined with the previously announced Cyberknife expansion, the two advances keep cancer care in McLean County on the cutting edge, Campbell and Nathan said.
