It's melon time and time to enjoy the beauty and the wonderful
sweet flavor of a multitude of melons found in the supermarket, if
not in your own garden. Among the leaders in consumer demand during
the summer is watermelon, of course. Chilled, chunked watermelon in a
bowl is almost as good as ice cream, and it's always fun to cut a big
slice and just dig in.
If you'd like to try your hand at using watermelon in some special
recipes, the following watermelon dishes may surprise you. They are
from The National Watermelon Promotion Board, Orlando, Fla.
HARVEST WATERMELON PIE
3 cups chopped watermelon rind (green peel removed)
1 package (6-ounces) sweetened dried cranberries
