McLEAN - A familiar signpost along the famed Route 66 will soon
vanish.
The Dixie Truckers Home name will be retiring Thursday, along with
Charles and C.J. Beeler of Bloomington.
The Beelers, who had been operating the McLean truck stop founded
by C.J. Beeler's grandfather in 1928 on a month-to-month basis since
October 2001, are retiring after an unsuccessful attempt to buy back
the business that has been in Chapter 7 bankruptcy since May 2001.
"My wife and I decided that that being the case, on July 31 we are
going to retire from the truck stop business," Charles Beeler said on
Monday.
