Article: Dixie truck stop name, ownership will change

McLEAN - A familiar signpost along the famed Route 66 will soon vanish.

The Dixie Truckers Home name will be retiring Thursday, along with Charles and C.J. Beeler of Bloomington.

The Beelers, who had been operating the McLean truck stop founded by C.J. Beeler's grandfather in 1928 on a month-to-month basis since October 2001, are retiring after an unsuccessful attempt to buy back the business that has been in Chapter 7 bankruptcy since May 2001.

"My wife and I decided that that being the case, on July 31 we are going to retire from the truck stop business," Charles Beeler said on Monday.
