Article: Hurricane threat grounds Redbirds ISU's trip to play Florida Atlantic postponed; November date likely

NORMAL -- With Hurricane Jeanne looking a bit too mean, the Redbirds did not take flight as scheduled Friday morning.

The Illinois State football team's game today against Florida Atlantic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was postponed after a hurricane watch was issued for the east coast of the storm-weary state.

While arrangements have yet to be finalized, the game will likely be rescheduled for Nov. 20.

"This was a mutual decision at the university level," said ISU senior associate athletics director Larry Lyons, who coordinates travel for the football team. "Florida Atlantic is in the process of closing its university, while the governor has asked for evacuation in the Fort Lauderdale area.
