Article: Bova, Carpenter tied for lead; Milligan all alone

NORMAL -- A check of the holes at the Illinois State University Golf Course Tuesday revealed they were indeed the regulation 4 1/4 inches in diameter.

Bloomington's Nick Bova thought they looked much bigger on his way to a 3-under-par 68 and a share of the lead in the Country Collegiate Classic Golf Tournament.

"It looked like a barrel," Bova said. "It was enormous."

Bova bombed in birdie putts he estimated at 30 feet on No. 3, 15 on No. 5, 40 on No. 7, 25 on No. 10, 12 on No. 15 and a 30-footer for par on No. 16.

"I putted great," he said. "It's actually probably the best putting round I've had in literally four or five years."

Sharing the lead with Bova is defending champion Jordan ...
