June 7, 1922 -- Henry Stubblefield, a farmer from around Funks Grove, becomes State Farm's first customer by purchasing $15 auto insurance from Merna farmer G.J. Mecherle, who was celebrating his 45th birthday. Stubblefield paid a $45 premium deposit and then a $11.17 premium after the first six months.

1929 -- State Farm finishes construction on a building in downtown Bloomington on Washington and East streets, though the company added several stories over the years. Previously, State Farm operated in the Oddfellow building on Main Street.
