Nursing home staff levels may be cut

PONTIAC - Staffing hours may be cut at Livingston Manor because the number of residents is down.

The Livingston County Board’s nursing home committee is coming up with a policy to deal with keeping staff levels in line with resident levels. A plan could be created in February and then passed on to the entire board for a vote.

The committee met on Wednesday to talk about current and future staffing levels.

The nursing home’s budget assumes there are will be about 90 residents, but only about 80 people have been using the home in the past few weeks. When the amount of residents is lower, the home starts to lose money, said director Richard Bracken.
