Article: Living rooms deserve more than sporadic visits

After a long search, my husband finally found me in an unlikely place: the living room.

"What are you doing in here?" he said, looking around as if he'd never seen the place before.

"Nobody ever comes in here," I explained. "I felt like I should sit in this room so it gets some use."

He gave me that look he gets when he's thinking, "You're nuts," but is too polite to say it.

"You're feeling guilty because the living room is wasted space?"

I nodded. "It's seems too bad you spent all that time painting the walls when nobody ever sees it."

"Yeah, I know the feeling," he said. "Kind of like when we have a car in the garage, but somebody never remembers to put gas in it ..."
