BLOOMINGTON - U.S. Rep. Jerry Weller wants more incentive for
motorists to buy fuel-efficient vehicles.
At a stop in Bloomington Monday, Weller promoted a tax credit of
up to $3,000 on the purchase of a hybrid vehicle that uses E85 fuel,
a blend of 85 percent ethanol. Automakers are working on the
technology.
Weller also lambasted a federal budget proposal that would
increase taxes by $217 billion in the next five years, saying McLean
County residents making $60,000 a year would pay an additional $2,000
in taxes.
"That's $2,000 that family is sending to Washington instead of
spending at local shops, supporting local jobs," Weller said,
