NORMAL - Joe Cossairt said he doesn't think he would have landed
his jobs in law enforcement without Capt. Keith Gehrand's guidance.
"He pretty much gave me a roadmap," Cossairt said.
Illinois State Police Lt. Ted Kerrn described Gehrand as a friend
and "an intelligent, caring guy with a heart of gold."
Illinois State University Police Chief Ronald Swan said Gehrand is
"a consummate professional."
"Keith epitomizes the highest traditions of the law enforcement
profession," Swan said.
The nearly 27-year veteran of the university police department
jokingly said those saying the kind words were expecting payment. But
