NORMAL - Joe Cossairt said he doesn't think he would have landed his jobs in law enforcement without Capt. Keith Gehrand's guidance.

"He pretty much gave me a roadmap," Cossairt said.

Illinois State Police Lt. Ted Kerrn described Gehrand as a friend and "an intelligent, caring guy with a heart of gold."

Illinois State University Police Chief Ronald Swan said Gehrand is "a consummate professional."

"Keith epitomizes the highest traditions of the law enforcement profession," Swan said.
