Article: Cruise-ship season opens amid high security Armed Caost Guard officers escort liner into Bar Harbor

BAR HARBOR - The cruise ship Rotterdam was not easy to spot Monday morning in the fog off Mount Desert Island, but that didn't stop Stacey Guild from trying.

Guild, a boat-master with the Coast Guard in Southwest Harbor, said she didn't mind getting up earlier than usual to meet the 750- foot vessel as it approached Bar Harbor for a daylong visit.

"I love watching the sun come up over the water," Guild said as she scanned the misty horizon for the luxury ocean liner and held a cup of coffee. "I'd much rather be on the water at 4 o'clock in the morning than at 1 o'clock in the morning."
