Article: Bar Harbor hostel explores move to Main Street

BAR HARBOR - The planning board Wednesday heard preliminary plans to move the Bar Harbor Youth Hostel from St. Saviour Parish Hall to Main Street, but no action was taken.

In a cursory review of the project application, as requested by the nonprofit hostel, board members signaled that parking could be a problem under the early plan.

Mount Desert architect Bill Hanley, who is working on plans to renovate the building at 321 Main St., had asked for board guidance so that the hostel could address any obvious problems in its formal site plan.

He said hostel planners would review their parking plan before submitting a final document.
