Article: Bangor council to debate term limits repeal

BANGOR - An attempt to strike term limits from the city charter is likely to get a mixed reception at a Monday meeting of the City Council.

The council, meeting as the Strategic Issues Committee, will consider asking city voters in a November 2003 referendum whether they want to repeal the limits that require councilors to take a year off after two consecutive three-year terms,

City Councilor Joe Baldacci, who is leaving the council in November after six years, asked the committee, comprising all nine councilors, to consider the ballot initiative.
