Article: Hancock County OKs anti-drug task force

ELLSWORTH - Hancock County took one step closer Wednesday to becoming the first county in the state to fund a law enforcement team dedicated solely to fighting drug abuse.

By a one-vote margin, Hancock County's nine-member budget advisory committee voted in support of allocating $200,000 in the county's 2004 budget for a three-person anti-drug task force.

Hancock County Sheriff William Clark came up with the proposal in response to growing frustration among county residents with the proliferation of illegal drug activity in their communities.
