Article: Bar Harbor cottage's preservation celebrated

BAR HARBOR - The Bar Harbor Preservation Trust presented awards Monday to several people who were involved in saving the historic McKay Cottage last year.

The cottage was built in the 1890s for Ann Soames Fennelly, granddaughter of Abraham Soames, the first European settler of Mount Desert Island, according to the trust.

Among those praised during an afternoon ceremony at the Main Street cottage was Jeff Wooster, a local real estate agent who negotiated a deal with hotelier David Witham to save the building.
