Article: Ellsworth, officials discuss Beckwith Hill development

ELLSWORTH - If the city and developers hope to get construction going again on Beckwith Hill anytime soon, they are going to have to do it without significant financial help from the state.

Officials with the Maine Department of Transportation held a public meeting Thursday to air options for mitigating traffic on existing roads on and around Beckwith Hill.

Tom Gorrill of the Gray firm Gorrill-Palmer Consulting Engineers told 45 or so people at the meeting how Myrick Street and portions of Route 1 and 3 may be widened and how traffic on the roads may be rerouted to improve traffic flow in the congested commercial area.
