Article: Stranded fishing boat rescued off Canada

SOUTHWEST HARBOR -Four vessels and the Canadian Coast Guard came to the rescue of a 45-foot fishing boat Sunday after it broke a stabilizer cable on high seas.

The crew of the Cheryl Lynn I sent out a mayday call at 1:45 a.m. reporting that the boat's cable had snapped in 25-foot seas and the vessel was in danger of rolling over, according to Group Controller Leslieann Dykes of Coast Guard Group Southwest Harbor.

The boat, of an unknown port, was deep in Canadian waters at the time, approximately 140 nautical miles (161 statute miles) from Mount Desert Island.
