Article: GOP Sen. Humphrey Says He Won't Seek Reelection in 1990

Sen. Gordon J. Humphrey (R-N.H.), one of the most vocal conservatives in the Senate, announced yesterday that he will not seek a third term in 1990. "Two terms is plenty," Humphrey said at a news conference in Concord.

Humphrey is the second leading conservative Republican senator to announce his retirement next year. Sen. William L. Armstrong (R-Colo.) announced last month that he will not seek a third term.

Humphrey, 48, said in a telephone interview that he has "no fixed plan" and will return to private life in January 1991.
