On March 29, Canada's annual seal hunt began. This hunt will continue for the next several weeks. During this period, close to 320,000 baby seals will be killed for their fur. Canada's annual seal hunt is the largest marine mammal hunt in the world with a three- year kill quota of almost one million seals.

The manner in which these helpless, sentient beings are killed is brutal and inhumane. The seal hunters club these seal pups over the head with a heavy metal club called a hakapik. They then skin them, often while they are still alive. The poor, helpless pups are then left there to die a painful death.
