MILBRIDGE - Washington County residents in need of social services
now have a single, toll-free phone number to call: 1 (866) 927-4289,
which also reads 1 (866) WASH-CTY.
The number became operational Monday. Within a few months it will
be replaced by 2-1-1, which ties into a national movement to
centralize health and human service referral and information
services. Thirty-one other states already offer 2-1-1 as a single
source for quick help.
Thirteen states have full-state coverage for 2-1-1, meaning that
help and referrals are available for residents in both rural and
metropolitan areas.
