CAMPOBELLO, New Brunswick - American marine mammal researchers
from Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina assisted Canadian
authorities Tuesday in investigating the death of a rare right whale
that had been found floating in the Bay of Fundy on Monday.
Marine scientists estimate that only between 300 and 400 right
whales are left in the world - and this female appeared to be less
than one year old.
Those who gathered to perform a necropsy on the animal believed it
had been the victim of a ship strike; however, they were not sure if
the strike had killed the whale or if it had died naturally and been
