Article: Acadia Crossing retailers eyed Ellsworth to select new shops soon

ELLSWORTH - An office supply store or an electronics and computer specialist? An Italian restaurant chain or a steakhouse? A trendy, teen-driven clothing retailer or a shop that offers more classic attire?

The wait is on in Hancock County's biggest city now that a 500,000- square-foot shopping center has been approved for Ellsworth's Route 1- Route 3 triangle area.

Phase II of Acadia Crossing, a 26-store mixed-retail project by W/ S Development Associates of Chestnut Hill, Mass., received the final go-ahead last week from the city's planning board.

The project still needs state and federal permits - expected to come within the next 60-90 days - but a W/S representative said lining up ...
