BAR HARBOR - The Mount Desert Island High School board has settled on an annual budget that voters will consider for adoption early next year, according to a school union official.

The board voted last week in favor of a proposed $8.3 million 2007- 2008 budget for MDI High School. The budget is almost $200,000 more than the current spending plan, Superintendent Rob Liebow said Tuesday, but because of a higher-than-anticipated fund balance, the tax assessment to support the proposed budget should decrease.
