After several months of investigation, Hancock County sheriff's
deputies have arrested four people, including the chairman of the
local planning board, who they believe are responsible for burglaries
at about 30 seasonal camps on Phillips Lake in Dedham.
David Cook, 59, who lives in the same area where many of the
burglaries occurred, was arrested Tuesday and charged with Class B
burglary.
Cook is chairman of the Dedham Planning Board and the town clerk
in nearby Otis, and police believe he may have used his positions to
facilitate the burglary ring.
Also arrested and charged with burglary were Cook's son Daniel
Cook, 31, Christopher LaPointe, 20, of Orrington and a 17-year-old
juvenile ...
