Article: Ellsworth closer to gaining SuperCenter

ELLSWORTH - For several months, there hasn't been much speculation around town about the construction of a Wal-Mart SuperCenter because many people believe its arrival is a forgone conclusion.

This week, that arrival moved a step closer.

Even though Wal-Mart Stores Inc. hasn't officially announced that it will have the anchor store in a 26-unit, 500,000-square foot shopping center, Wal-Mart Real Estate Business Trust has completed a land purchase in Ellsworth and has sent representatives to meet with city officials to start the permitting process.
