DOVER-FOXCROFT - The united front farmers displayed in support of
the Piscataquis County Farm Service Agency in Dover-Foxcroft was
enough to convince state officials to keep it open.
State Farm Service Agency officials had proposed closing the
Piscataquis, Hancock and Knox-Lincoln county offices based on the
volume of activity at each location. The three had the lowest amount
of activity of all the offices in the state.
The local Farm Service Agencies notify farm producers of programs
that are adopted at the federal and state levels that could affect
them. They also offer farmers updated information and assistance on
commodity operations, conservation, disaster assistance and farm
loans.
